NATALIE RELEASES VIBRANT MUSIC VIDEO FOR NEW SINGLE ‘I FANTASISE’

After releasing her incredibly well-received album ‘Memory Girl’ in 2021 – featuring standout singles Devils, A Sun Going Down, Take Me To Your Leader, followed by a definitive album title track – Natalie makes a powerful return with the music video for her anthemic new pop single I Fantasise.

Natalie speaks about the inspiration and shooting of the video:

“The idea for the video was based around narrative – I wrote the song picturing London in the summer – there’s no other place like it! 

The lyric in Verse 1 ‘in the streets you can hear the hearts beating‘ hits so true – everyone spills out onto the streets and it’s so romantic and hazy and the prospect of meeting new people is so so exciting – all of this was happening in my head at the time of writing the song.

The song follows a bit of a timeline in the way that I talk about being in the streets, on the Overground, heading to the park, and it all comes to a head at this moment, with this person who is the object of my desire.

So when we were thinking about locations for the song, it had to be authentic – we HAD to shoot it in London. 

When I think back to when I first moved to the city at 21, I’d hang out mostly in East London – around the retro Brick Lane, the greenery of London Fields and Victoria Park, the vibrant Hackney Road and Shoreditch.

I used to live at the top of Hoxton Road and even had my 21st birthday celebration in a curry house on Brick Lane – so this area of London is so extra special to me and I associate it with romance, excitement and optimism.

So it made total sense to me that I would shoot the video East…

So we booked a day in April (I knew the weather would be amazing around then – a weird fluke of the British weather recently) to film the video, just me, IXIOD, Sunny our make up artist, and the cutest mini-dress you ever saw in your life 👀

The day of the shoot was actually so chilled – I thought I’d be really awkward miming the song in public – but I actually LOVED it – to the extent where I was stopping traffic in the street, I was so confident!

We got some amazing footage, and it was just the best day, the three of us!

We then headed up to Manchester a couple of weeks later to shoot the scenes with Ellysse Mason who sings guest vocals on the song, and again were so blessed with the weather!

It’s almost like Mother Nature wanted the song to be a huge success!

And what can I say… I am JUST SO HAPPY with the result, it’s literally everything I wanted and imagined for the song 💙💙💙

FUN FACT: when myself and Andy were mixing ‘I Fantasise’, we listened to the mixed track over the music video for Red Wine Supernova by Chappell Roan because this was the closest visual to what I had in my head for the song”
